It feels great to welcome back to Alligator Records one of my very favorite bands, Lil' Ed and The Blues Imperials. These guys perform exactly the kind of music that inspired me to found Alligator Records; their gloriously raw sound is in the great Chicago blues tradition. They walk proudly in the footsteps of our first artists, Hound Dog Taylor and the Houserockers, and those of Ed's slide slinging uncle, the late J. B. Hutto.
After the release of his last album, What You See Is What You Get, Lil' Ed Williams broke up the band, stayed home, and truly put his life together for the first time. His helpmate for the last two years has been his wonderful wife, Pamela, to whom this album is dedicated. This is the happiest time of Ed's life. The joy that Pam has brought him helped Ed bring The Blues Imperials back together, and overflows from every song on the album. Just because Ed has found personal happiness doesn't mean that the edge is gone from his music. Ed and the Blues Imperials have been called "the world's #1 house-rocking blues band," and their manic live energy still pours out every night on the bandstand, just as it does on this album.
As he says, "We want to see the people get wild!" This record is an invitation to do just that.
